Gilsonite Packing Options for Export

How gilsonite is packed affects cost, handling and product protection. These are the most common options.
25 kg multi-wall paper bags
The standard for powder grades. Bags are printed with product name, batch number, manufacturing date and safety information, then palletized and stretch-wrapped.
25 kg woven PP bags
Stronger and more moisture-resistant than paper. Often used for granular grades and long sea voyages.

1 MT jumbo bags
Ideal for lump and granular grades and for customers with bag dischargers. They reduce packing cost and speed up handling.
Meltable bags
Low-melting PE bags can be added directly to hot bitumen or asphalt mixers without opening.
Pallet preparation
Bags are stacked on wooden pallets, covered with a top cap, stretch-wrapped and strapped. This protects against moisture and keeps the load stable.
Typical loading per 20ft container
| Packing | Approx. load |
|---|---|
| 25 kg bags, palletized | 20–22 MT |
| 1 MT jumbo bags | 20 MT |
Exact loads depend on bag size, palletizing and destination rules.
