Shrink-wrapped pallets of natural asphalt powder – sealer & filler application

Testing

Drying time, film flexibility, water resistance and colour.

Solvent sealer example

Component Typical range
Gilsonite 15–35 %
Aromatic or aliphatic solvent 60–80 %
Additives (anti-settling, UV) 0–5 %

Emulsion sealer example

Component Typical range
Asphalt emulsion (with gilsonite in the asphalt) 40–60 %
Clay and mineral fillers 20–40 %
Water to viscosity
Polymer latex 0–5 %
Sand (for traction) as required

Key tests

Drying time, film flexibility, adhesion to aged asphalt, water resistance and colour.

Safety
