Storing and Handling Gilsonite in the Foundry
Translate this article:

Good storage keeps gilsonite free-flowing and safe.
Storage
- Keep bags dry and off the floor on pallets
- Avoid storing near furnaces or other heat sources
- Use first-in, first-out stock rotation
Silo storage
Jumbo bags can be discharged into silos for automatic dosing. Keep silos dry and avoid long residence times in hot areas.

Dust and safety
Control dust with extraction at transfer points and use dust masks. Fine carbon dust can be combustible; keep good housekeeping.
Shelf life
At least 12 months in dry storage.
